I have to admit that I am kind of a noob but I am excited to learn more so help would be REALLY APPRECIATED.

These are the components i am using now:

ECS P4M800PRO-M2 V2.0 LGA 775 VIA P4M800 PRO Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Celeron D 347 Cedar Mill 3.06GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80552347

HITACHI Deskstar T7K250 HDT722525DLA380 (0A31636) 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

Penguin Gear PCI USB2.0 & 1394A 4+2(6-Port) Combo Add-On Card Model PG-COM-303

G.SKILL Extreme 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) System Memory Model F2-4200PHU1-1GBNT

I installed with no problem but when I restarted I saw two errors. One being that the S.M.A.R.T status on my harddrive was bad (the same thing is reported after I installed ubuntu, but it started up and worked just fine)

The other said something referring to boot/?/?/id86

*I reinstalled ubuntu and can't check the error again. but I will reinstall if someone thinks they can help*

If you need any more details PLEASE ask so that I can provide more accurate info

well i'm not sure how to fix your problems but just making sure that when you went to install osx86 you applied all of the neccesary patches by selecting Custom install and formatted the harddrive using mac os extended (Journaled) more info and instalation guides can be found on the OSX86 WIKI

Hope this helps

I spent about 45 minutes on the guide/faq section and couldn't find what I was looking for. (isn't that just good forum ediquite?)I did reformat the harddrive for the instalation and I'm prety sure (73%) that I installed the correct patches. I checked the install that had the intell patches on it, not the amd one though. Thanks for the advise

my roommate also just mentioned that i might have a bad disk driver for my motherboard and that could ruin my hd.... does anyone know if there is much of a chance of this being true/happening. I already rma'd my motherboard so I can't send it back twice.

I just installed on another harddrive (120 gb IDE) and its seems to work fine. I think I know what the problem was....I didn't select the right drive to boot off of when the bios is starting. (noob mistake I know) I am istalling ubuntu and osx now so hopefully it will work for me. :)

I am having a problem though with the fact that my ethernet isn't working. (I checked the faq's again but if I couldn't find anything so I would also love some help with that too)

hecker and starfox5194 thanks for your help :)
