fruktsallad
Hello mate! Seems like you've got exactly the same graphics card as the one I ordered yesterday. Expecting delivery tomorrow. The guide you're looking for is here: http://www.macvidia.com/index.php?option=c...mp;topic=1082.0 I'd really like it if you reported back here with how it worked for you. There is a 7900gs bios already, but it's not an MSI one, so I'd advise you to fire up your hex editor and do it yourself. Just follow the guide...it's not the most explanatory tutorial around, but just google the stuff you don't understand (if any). Cheers and good luck! Windows RG
I have aa 6800 512 and it didnt need flashed because of its memory size........ if it uses shared memory it needs flahed. also if it has poor memory allocation. if it doesnt make sure you added your device id's to the proper Kxt files from Natit. fruktsallad
Thanks fruksallad, ill give it a try right now. Well, I successfully flashed my card following that guide. Works like a charm. Now I just need to get that new motherboard of mine to support AHCI, and I'm all set. How did you fare? BJMoose
Yes, flashing the nVidia 512mb cards is the only way to get them to work with OSX. It only takes a couple of minutes and all capabilities should become available. I use Diabolik's Natit Dual.02 installer. xkelly
If anyone is still interested, there is a MSI NX7900GS 512MB patched ROM, here: http://www.macvidia.com/index.php?option=c...;topic=1082.645 It worked on my card using the install guide with NVFLASH. Could someone point me to a Natit file that will work with this card? I found diabolik's website, but his Natit files only reference the 7600 and 7300 cards. I used Natit 0.2 on the Uphuck 1.3 installer...works great, except that the card is named "Unknown nVidia" and TV-Out doesn't work (it doesn't work for any dual dvi-out nVidia that I know of) :/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56667-im-lost-with-my-new-7900/#findComment-419775 Share on other sites
BJMoose
Fruktsallad, are you getting dual dvi (no dvi/vga adapter) using this. That's the only thing I'm missing on my system. I can get dual monitors running, but one is DVI and the other needs the vga adapter. I'd like to get both DVI. xkelly
I used Natit 0.2 on the Uphuck 1.3 installer...works great, except that the card is named "Unknown nVidia" and TV-Out doesn't work (it doesn't work for any dual dvi-out nVidia that I know of) :/ Fruktsallad, that's odd. Mine is read as a NVIDIA 7900GS in System Profiler, with the full 512MB in SP and Darwin boot. Do you have CI/QE working on the MSI NX7900GS 512MB? I can't get it going for the life of me. Originally, NVDAResman.kext was killing my boot-up. I had to remove it. I just tried using Titan and specifiying my device ID 0x0292 in the NVDAResman, GeForce, NVDANV40Hal, and IONDRVSupport kexts, but now I just get the grey apple screen with spinning pinwheel. I've got everything going on this Shuttle box but QE/CI, which I need for FCP Studio 2. Don't need Dual DVI. I'm on JAS 10.4.8 SSE3. Any ideas? Thanks! BJMoose
Xkelly, sorry if you posted this somewhere else before, but it appears you are using Titan as opposed to Natit dual.02. Is there a reason for that? From what I've read, Natit will work well with that card. Good luck. xkelly
Hey BJMoose, thanks for the reply. Yeah, I was using Titan, based on some other threads, but I just deleted it and put back the Natit kext (natit dual 02). Just for a sanity check, this is what I've done: In the following kexts, GeForce.kext Natit.kext MVDANV40Hal.kext NVDAResman.kext modified the IOPCIMatch key with the device/NVidia ID string 0x029210de In IONDRVSupport.kext Modified the IOPCIClassMatch key with string 0x029210de Then ran the appropriate ownership modifications and disk repairs. Boot-up halts on grey Apple logo with spinning pinwheel. The hard drive kicks over a little bit then nothing. This time, removing NVDAResman hasn't let me boot-up. Must look to the other files. Crud. I'll post more when I find the culprit. What do you think? Best. EDIT: Removed Natit, system booted-up. Added NVDAResman back without Natit, I get the four language restart screen, which is what I got after my first restart up after installation. Had to kill NVDAResman to boot-up. So... with NVDAResman and/or Natit installed, I get the greay Apple spinning pinwheel screen. With NVDAResman only, I get the language restart screen. Sigh. I don't know. Other than a patched Rom, I 'm back at the beginning. xkelly
Well, everyone, I got it working. Fruktsallad, I decided to blow away my JAS 10.4.8 for Uphuck 10.4.9, and everything worked out of the box. Thanks to both you and BJMoose for pointing me in the right direction. All I have left is to figure out why I can't do a restart. Take care. It's one of the last few things I need to get a fully compatible system, and it's really bugging me that there doesn't seems to be a way to get dual dvi nvidia cards to get tv-output. No, I do not have a need for TV Out, so never thought to check it out. Does this card work with a second monitor in dual-mode? I want to get a second monitor if it does. But no way to check without a second one. Chicken or egg! I'm now using Natit 0.2 Dual from koolkals 10.4.10 update and it detects my card just fine. Check out Google's sitesearch to read in on it.
