no matter what i try, i can only burn about 10% of the DVD i attempt to burn.

i've tried patchburn and it doesn't seem to make any difference...

it's defiantly a OSX issue as i can burn the DVD's without a problem in parallels

Does it still work in Windows? What error does it give when it stops? It shouldn't have any compatibility problems since it's an actual SuperDrive (or at least the same model drive as one). What kind of disc are you burning to? That drive had problems with +RWs long ago, but it should have been fixed with the firmware yours has.

no error, it just endlessly spins, starting and stopping until i get pissed and reboot.

i've used all kinds of disks, +R -R etc... sony, nameless... etc...
