Paulo Greimel
Hi folks, I have a question, well maybe I'm leaving OSx86, in my notebook I installed OSx86 10.4.8, I sticked with that for a couple of months, then I put Windows XP CD and started intalling XP (I was going to do a dual-boot)and suddenly my DVD drive stopped working, I tried everything. Is it possible, OSx86 screwed up my DVD drive? If I install it again it could screw up my HD, my video card and etc? Well I need to know, because if the answer is yes, I will leave OSx86 and suffer with Windows a couple of years until I get a MacBook (MacBooks are very expensive in Brazil). Cheers, Paulo

sigxcpu
if the windows cd was in the drive then the windows cd broke your drive. don't blame poor jobs for that.
Danyel
Hi PCGreimel: I had a similar issue with my Dell Inspiron 1150. But it was not OSx86 that was the problem. The problem was that I was using my DVD-ROM/CD-RW Drive to install Operating Systems (Windows, OS X, etc). Fortunately, my laptop was under warranty at the time, so Dell sent out replacement drive. The DVD/CD Drives in laptops can tend to break because they are more fragile than the regular internal desktop drives. --danyel
