numberonekiwi Posted December 6, 2005 Share Posted December 6, 2005 I have been looking on ATI's web site and have found they the ATI Radeoan 9600 pro PC / MAC card which claims to work out of box on pc and mac - same card for both platforms I have a ATI radeon 9600 pro card as well installed in my pc "mac" it is not the above mentioned card as mine has two different types of display output vga and dvi whereas the mac/pc version has two dvi outputs for vga displays they provide an adaptor. The question I have is can you obtain a video bios flash (or whatever) to re-program your graphics card to the dual platform card as all other features are the same (apart from dual dvi/dvi-vga) Also I have not seen any ati * 9600 .kexts in within the mac os to support this, are these supported by a different kext file Anyone out there who has more knowledge on this subject could help I would be greatful as I have spent several hours trying to find out with no luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5487-ati-radeon-9600-pro-family/ Share on other sites More sharing options...
adam21924 Posted December 6, 2005 Share Posted December 6, 2005 If you are talking about reflashing your bios so that you will be able to use it in the x86 OSX (becuase the new ATI card claims both mac & pc support), I should tell you that the normal (not the special mac/pc one you mentioned) ATI 9600pro works out of the box with 8F1111 (10.4.3). So, all you need to do is upgrade to the new 10.4.3 and your card will work. It is just for PPC since the whole BIOS structure (openfirmware) is different, aside from the PPC stuff. My laptop has a mobility 9600 which works out of the box in OS X, too.
