DrSupachicken
Hi Guys, When I was at the local PC Shop they had some SATA DVDRW drives? Has anyone tried them or know if they work? I was going to pick up and IDE DVDRW lightscrive drive, but I might see about the SATA ones. Cheers.
asap18
The SATA DVD chipsets are fairly new and less in terms of quality then the IDE versions with partial gain in speeds. I would wait until a few months until the manufacturers have worked out most the kinks.
bigcletus
I have only sata drives in my system and it works great. Using the samsung lightscribe dvd-rw drive and seagate 320gb drive. Only thing I noticed that is a little strange is the hd led on my case blinks every second, even though there is no hard disk or optical activity. I have heard that this is from the os polling the sata channel for removable media. This occurs in Vista, XP, and OSX. The light doesn't flicker if I boot without the sata optical plugged in. Not a big deal I guess.
