Ive given up all hope of ever running os x on my hp laptop. Worst OSX laptop ever!

Good news is I just ordered a shiny new macbook. I figured it was time to purchase one whjat with the recent speed upgrades and what not. Finally have something to feed my os x craving with. :P

Congratz! That is one sweet machine (I just bought mine as well). Just remember to NEVER open or close the lid by the edges/corners. Always use the center of the screen. Failure to do so may lead to a broken LCD and nobody wants to see their baby broken in such a cruel way. Am I right?

Also, never lift it by the screen either. Yes, the MacBook is not as robust as it seems.

Cheers,

Thanks for the tip! Im also worried about keeping it clean, this macbook will most likely trigger an obsesive compulsive disorder with cleaning my hands.
Definitely.

Also consider buying one of those antistatic rags to place inside the MacBook to prevent the keys from directly touching the screen when it's closed. They're not expensive and some can even be used as mouse pads. I'm getting mine from a store in Hannover (my city of residence) this weekend.

Here's a link to the store so you can take a look (german site): http://www.gravis.de/Detail.aspx?path=Zube...&pid=335336

You should also check out those transparent rubber protection cases. They protect your MacBook from getting scratched and do not affect the looks: http://cgi.ebay.de/HARD-CRYSTAL-COVER-CASE...VQQcmdZViewItem

And don't forget to buy a craddle to put it to sleep at night, and to make a doctor's appointment every month to check it's vaccines.... Gezz....

It's just a machine! (An expensive one... but a machine!)

You're absolutely right but keeping it clean and protecting it's weaker components will help it last longer and increase it's resale value. Who likes a dirty, broken machine? Specially a white one.

You can't (mis)treat it like you would, say, your cars motor block :)

You are absolutely right.

I bought a Boundi iBook (1999 version). I really loved it and was very carefull with it (I sold it to a friend after installing OSX 10.3.9), but I think you guys are overreacting , sorry

Yeah, I guess it sounds like that. I am really careful with all my expensive hardware ever since I decided to "fix" my old notebook (a Toshiba Satellite 3000) and ended up with a broken LCD. Until then I would treat these things like regular PCs and even smack em around a bit whenever I got frustrated with windows. Those days are over now :P

Nothing like a good Mac... a black one.. that is. Since Pismo, I never saw a Mac I really loved.

Those were really great computers.

I hear ya. I had to sell my Pismo G3 (Lombard) for 300 Euros on Ebay to get the new MacBook *sigh*. Now that was one sturdy machine and I will miss it a lot.

It sucks that Apple makes you pay so much money for the black MacBook. Ah, well.
