Boot problem

I installed OSX just fine on my p4 3.00ghz and it said installation complete click to restart. I waited for around 10 minutes and it was still sitting there so I hit my reset button on my machine. WHen it went to boot I got the boot loader then 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99...ect...

 

any help someone can give would be great!!

Unglue your "9" key :(

 

Seriously though, your system probably just has a screwed bootloader. Try regenerating your MBR and reinstalling the darwin bootloader.

 

(Please notice that this is for systems with only one HDD!)

1. Boot off OSX dvd disc in single user mode (press F8 and type -s)
2. At single user prompt
fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0
flag 1
update
write
quit
4 reboot

 

Post back (and this time include detailed HW specs) if fixing the MBR doesn't do the trick.
