hi all, i am lookng for a way to share itunes between my hackintosh and mac book pro, i know it can be done using the sharing option, but what im after is actualy sharing the itunes folder with artwork and all, so if my misses puts a cd in the laptop in the lounge and rips it and does the artwork it will apear on the desktop and be stored on the desktop hard disk, i know i can create a network shared folder and do it that way, but i have a collection of around 45000 songs all with artwork already in the default itunes music folder on the desktop and we have roughly another 300 cds to rip, if we could do it from two machines but to the same location that would make things much better

any ideas??

also why the hell cant i see my avatar thingy?

Replace the "iTunes" folder in the Music folder with a symbolic link to the iTunes folder on the computer you want to store all the music. The only problem is I'm not sure exactly what happens to the library if both iTunes programs write to it around the same time. The safest bet would be to rip it all from one computer and just share it using the sharing option in iTunes. It should work fine for playing music the way I mentioned to start, but iTunes was not written to have two copies writing the library file at the same time. It's quite possible it would get corrupted, or just be incomplete.

i have been using the sharing option and it works fine, but it would be nice to use the front row feature on my mac book pro that is plugged in to my plasma tv then i can view the artwork from the dekstop pc. i did think about moving the itunes library to the shared folder and doing it that way,

il try some things and let you know.
