This is a stupid question (and I should knowthe answer, but I don't), but...

Is a PATA drive the same as an IDE drive? (eg. what they typically sell in retail stores)

I have an SATA drive but apparantly I need to install Mac OS X onto a PATA drive, install an nForce4 SATA driver and then clone the image to my SATA drive. (so I can boot from it)

If a PATA drive is NOT the same as an IDE drive, can I use an IDE drive instead of PATA and then clonecopy that to my SATA drive?

Thanks!

In other words, yes. No need to put so much effort into telling him to search Google when the answer is so much easier to type :D
