Help me (Vmware 5.5 - SSE 2 and SSE 3 Emulation - AMD Athlon XP 3200)

I thought that XP Processors end with 2800.

The Palomino Core went from 1500+ to 2100+

The Thoroughbred Core went from 1600+ to 2800+

The Thorton Core went from 2000+ to 2400+

The Barton Core went from 2500+ to 3200+

The Athlon 64 chips started at 2800+ as well.

There's quite a bit of overlapping going on with the performance ratings of different cores.

Hi, made a search and found this topic.

I want this to be confirmed:

I will not be able to boot into MacOS with a non SSE2 compliant CPU EVEN IF I am booting it from VmWare.

I mean, VmWare is an x86 Emulator, I guess it should have nothing to do with my CPU specs as it is going to emulate instructions for MY (non-SSE2 compliant) Cpu. If VmWare works, than Macosx should work within it I guess, but i may be wrong. Especially if Vmware emulates just by transmitting instructions from emulated area to my real CPU. So that would mean that it is not going to work.

Asking just for clarification:

Vmware(on non SSE2-SSE3 processor) + Macos = Failure

Someone please confirm.

Thanks.

I can get to the spinning apple logo, but not any farther. Have an Athlon XP 3200+ and it shows SSE and SSE3, no SSE2. Is there any way to have the OS run off just SSE3?

Mabye possible with an SSE2 -> 3 patch? Should'nt affect performance too much going up.
