Slook
Since I've had to figure out how to do this a million times, some may be wondering how to install Leopard if you don't have a DVD Burner and just have the DMG file. 1. Backup your Mac OS X HDD to an external, unless you don't care about the data, just be sure you have the leopard dmg on an external hard drive. 2. Boot from OS X install CD and partition your HDD - 1 partition, your main, and the 2nd one at least 7GB. So my comp. has a 40GB HDD 33GB (32 actual) went towards Macintosh HD, while the 7GB went towards making the bootable leopard volume. 3. Install OS X on the main partition 4. Open Disk Utility and choose the leopard install drive (the 7GB for mine) and choose the Restore tab. From there drag and drop (or click Image) the leopard dmg file from the external hard drive to the source field. In the destination choose the leopard install drive 5. Once the restore has completed rename the leopard install drive to Mac OS X Install DVD. 6. Open System Preferences, then Startup Disk, and reboot into the Mac OS X Install DVD - Leopard Install - NOTE: BE SURE TO UNMOUNT THE DMG, AND THE EXTERNAL SO YOU DON'T GET CONFUSED ON WHICH DRIVE TO CHOOSE. This is for users who only have USB and don't have a firewire drive.
Edweirdo
I would just like to point out that you can use Boot Camp to repartition the drive without having to reformat your entire drive. I just repartitioned with Boot Camp, restarted into OS X, then used the disk utils from there to restore the image to the extra partition.
