AppleMacintosh
Hello, everyone. I purchased a Gateway GT5408 not too long ago, and so far, Vista has been an OK experience, but OS X is a lot better. Vista, I understand, has a lot of upgrades, but it's still giving me many of the same issues windows always gives me. I'd rather move away from Windows, and it's business practices that really burn me as a legitimate consumer. (Vista activation is {censored}, so is having to validate when I purchased it). So I want a Mac mini, for my Widescreen display which I already own. I need the following specs. At least 1.8 GHz OS X full support (Leopard support too) SuperDrive 1 G RAM 80 GB HDD Mouse+KB (wired) My question is, should I wait for 1 G RAM/superdrive and 64 bit Core 2 Duo to all become standard? Or should I shell out $874 now? Thanks, and I look forward to making the switch.

AppleMacintosh
no 1.8 ghz mac minis, get an imac Yea, there's a 1.83 GHz Core Duo Mac mini. I can't afford an iMac. Also, any way to sell my gateway? It's valued at $699 new.
Soündless
hmm, i never look at the mac minis, so i overlooked that one. err, ebay to sell your gateway. 1437 for mac mini with your specs and an apple screen. 1199 for imac with dediacted graphix, 1gb ram, 160gb hd. Synaesthesia
The mac mini 1.66 is much better value IMO, the other stuff included are hardly worth the extra bucks, and the speed difference is negligible. The imac is also better value
sandmanfvrga
The old question: What do you DO with your pc/mac?. You can rule out a mini, like said above, they are powerful now with core duo and with a gig, you really don't need much more. If you are not needing UBER power or expandability and do everyday things, then you need a mini.
TvvqKMZ72bsklauw5
What you are looking at is a very good buy. However, if you are going to be using your Mac for things like Photoshop CS2 or applications that rely on the graphics card for speed, you may want to shift your focus to an iMac. Mac Mini has an Intel GMA 950 graphics chip, which is not much compared to today's graphics cards. The ATI X1600 for the iMac is the better choice compared with the GMA 950.
