chrisz
i was wondering if it was possible to update the video card in an iMac. Like say i get the 24" iMac with the default 128mb 7300 graphics card, can i upgrade that later to the 7600 256mb card if i find the 128mb isn't enough? crocitto49
I also have an iMac and I would like to see a further expert answer this. However, i don't believe it's possible, because I am 90% sure that the Video Card on the iMac is Soldered on the Motherboard, so even if it was remotely possible, you'd have to rip out the first chip, which is hard. But if there is some expansion card we can install it's even better. I also have an iMac and I would like to see a further expert answer this. A Nonny Moose
You'll need raw chips, a soldering iron, and prayer. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47982-updating-video-cards/#findComment-344859 Share on other sites
