Purple Puppy
I have a dell inspiron 640M. I have no sound or internet working after the OSx86 install. I have been referring to http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph..._E1505_.2F_6400 for support, but internet and audio are not working. I used AppleHDA patcher to patch what i believe to be Sigmatel 9200 audio with the right codec, but, it said, "Unsupported Sigmatel chipset!" To fix internet, I tried replacing the /system/Library/IONetworkingFamily.kext with the one from OS X 10.4.6, but, to my dismay, there is no such file in /system/Library/. Help me! success2be
Go here for correct solution for your sound card. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=34075 I never used AppleHDA and only using a customized KEXT for my Sigmatel and all the sounds are working except I have to plug into the subwoofer port to get sound output. To find your network KEXT, go to /System/Library/Extensions/
Purple Puppy
Which customized KEXT did you use? And after fixing the network Kext, it showed an error message upon boot saying invalid system file.
success2be
I used the Sigmatel KEXT that came with the Jas 10.4.8 SSE2 / SSE3 AMD Intel ppf 1 and ppf2 ISO image. You can find that image on one of the torrent search sites. You can also find the updated KEXT via the wiki http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page Did you make sure to repair file permissions with Disk Utility after you updated the KEXT? After that did you also made sure to enter the following commands in terminal? sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache sudo kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions
Purple Puppy
Now I fixed the networking kext (repaired file permissions), and ethernet etc would work, but it doesn't recognise the wireless card. I'm pretty sure it's a Dell 1309.
