  1. Here is the official Gimp-Print driver web site supporting old printers on the Mac. Enjoy. http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/
  2. install problem

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page and search for "Natit". I'm able to play World of Warcraft at full video settings and still get average of 25fps on my GeForce 7600GT.
  3. Dell Inspiron 640M

I used the Sigmatel KEXT that came with the Jas 10.4.8 SSE2 / SSE3 AMD Intel ppf 1 and ppf2 ISO image. You can find that image on one of the torrent search sites. You can also find the updated KEXT via the wiki http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page Did you make sure to repair file permissions with Disk Utility after you updated the KEXT? After that did you also made sure to enter the following commands in terminal? sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache sudo kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions
  4. iSight cams and other Webcams in OSx86

I tried using my Xbox Live 360 cam yesterday via iChat with my brother and everything worked out just fine. The flickering problem was only during video preview option.
  5. iSight cams and other Webcams in OSx86

I can confirm that the Xbox Live 360 camera does work. Although I'm getting flickering in the video image using iChat. Anybody else getting flickering too? I might try to get another UVC compliant camera such as Creative or Logitech.
  6. iSight cams and other Webcams in OSx86

There're posts on other forums that the Xbox Live camera works out of the box on OS X 10.4.9 Its supposed to be UVC compatible so no drivers are needed. I'm going to try it tonight and everything goes as planned, then all I need is a usb mic to get iChat working.
  7. Video skipping after 10.4.9 update

Search the forum for koolkal update to see if it needs you to set the front side bus speed at boot. It would be something like "fsb=xxx"
  8. Dell Inspiron 640M

Go here for correct solution for your sound card. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=34075 I never used AppleHDA and only using a customized KEXT for my Sigmatel and all the sounds are working except I have to plug into the subwoofer port to get sound output. To find your network KEXT, go to /System/Library/Extensions/
  9. getting network to work

You'll need the Manufacturer ID and Device ID which is reported from Device Manager in Windows. If you know the manufacturer and model number, then you can search the forums and the wiki for possible solutions. Either way, you'll need the Manufacturer ID and Device ID when you customize your KEXT files for your network card.
  10. Help me plzzzzz

When booting, press F8 so you get the boot options prompt. Enter "-v -x" without the quotes. Report back to us with your on-screen outputs. Otherwise we can't troubleshoot your problem.
  11. install problem

Try using the JaS 10.4.8 ISO image that includes PPF1 and PPF2 patch. You can find it on one of the popular torrent search sites. Since you have Core 2 Duo, you may need to deactivate 1 core in BIOS to get your install working.
  12. MAC OS X 10.4.8 Won't Boot

During installation, what processor patch did you select to install? Make sure to only select Intel if you have Intel and only AMD if you have AMD. Same goes for other optional patches. If you don't know if you need it, don't select it during installation. The correct processor patch is required for successful boot.
  13. MAC OS X 10.4.8 Won't Boot

Give us more info than just "didn't boot". Describe in detail what you see and don't see on screen.
  14. 10.4.9 update from apple killed my hackintosh

Thing to note: Its only for Intel processors supporting SSE3. So if your AMD Turion is your test machine, thats why its having kernel panic. Another option is to try the 10.4.8 ppf2 install, then install the 10.4.9 combo update. Sooner or later JaS will create a complete 10.4.9 SSE2 / SSE3 Intel AMD image. If you got important stuff working on your hackintosh, then there's no urgency to upgrade. I didn't notice any real difference. Some people said they got huge gains in Xbench scores. I was hoping that I could get my Logitech webcam working without 3rd party drivers with the 10.4.9 update. I'll be trying it this weekend and see if it works with iChat and Skype. One of the 3rd party software publishers created a utility that allowed iChat to use non-iSight webcams via USB. Their support page indicated the 10.4.9 update doesn't require the use of their utility.
  15. 10.4.9 update from apple killed my hackintosh

The ppf is a patch file that is applied onto the ISO. I've seen at Demonoid a JaS 10.4.8 SSE2 / SSE3 Intel AMD with ppf1 and ppf2 applied already. The patches are for fixing a problem with the Disk Utility included on the DVD image. You can read more at http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=34871 You may or may not need the ppf if you already got 10.4.8 installed just fine. I only use Apple Update for software updates like iLife, Quicktime, iTunes, etc; Not for OS X update. Yes, I had the JaS 10.4.9 SSE3 Intel Combo installed onto my existing JaS 10.4.8 SSE2 SSE3 Intel AMD ppf2. I had a tone of apps already installed before the upgrade. Like I said before, it doesn't hurt to pray to Steve Jobs, JaS, and all the other great developers here for upgrade blessings :-) All my drivers continued to work including Natit. Don't kill the messenger if something goes wrong, always backup your stuff. You configuration could be different to mine.
