I'm about to install OSX on my custom Asus p5b deluxe etc. I saw that many people did that, and read through all the threads about it. I just tried an install from any SSE3 jas dvd over my usb dvd rom, but my IDE hd on the jmicron controller was not recognized I found out in the forum, that I need a SSE3 ppf1 version of Jas and that I have to apply "Defiant diskutil.7" and ICH7/ICH8 patch. And that the instructions given to make the jmicron work are WAY to complicated for me... i have no clue what is meant... so I will try with a SATA disc on the ICH8 controller. I was able to get the ICH8r patch, but not the Defiant diskutil.7 (waiting for an invitation for demnoid) So here is the point I dont find out, HOW CAN I APPLY THOSE patches to the JAS disk?? Also I'm missing some basic information. people explain how they: "In the second attempt - I selected Mifki's kernel and patches for ICH8, Azalia and 10.4.4 "About this Mac" window." select where??? I'm sorry if I make a stupid impression, actually I'm not that stupid, but I really miss some of the very basics, and somehow in this forum everyone takes them as "given" and never explains them... So maybe this is the "very basics" thread?? Or maybe my brain is just {censored}ed from spending over 5 hours searching this forum... zarac Posted April 8, 2007 Share Posted April 8, 2007 I was able to get the ICH8r patch, but not the Defiant diskutil.7 (waiting for an invitation for demnoid) send me a pm with your email, i'll give you an invitation I dont find out, HOW CAN I APPLY THOSE patches to the JAS disk?? those patches are in .ppf format which means you'll need ppf-o-matic - http://halo2.filefront.com/file/PPFOMatic;24225x and the CORRECT ISO file to patch. i think the easiest way for you would be to download already patched ISO image which includes JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.v1p.ppf, Defiant.diskutil.7.ppf and bikedude880.ichXr.ppf (ICH7R/8R patch) - search demon's site for: JaS.Mac.OS.X.10.4. 8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.S SE3.PPF.1.Defiant. diskutil.biker880. ich7-R.patch.Integ rated or you can download the original iso: - search demon's site with: JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3 and patch it with ppf updates (in this order): 1. search demon's site for: JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.v1p 2. Defiant.diskutil.7.ppf topic (on this forum) 3. search demon's site for: ICH7R/8R patch be sure to download only the patches, not the whole image containing the patch (notice the file size) both ways you'll end up with a same ISO image file and the installation should "see" your sata drives BUT if you want to install it to your pata drive, you'll have to download different ISO to start with, and patch it with different ppf file. read here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=34938 i hope this will get you started. I read somewhere once about that ppfomatic, but before i knew it would concern me, and then i didn't remember, and didn't find it anymore... I have a mini- computer running 24/7 wit azureus, so I'm a seeder, and definitly others will profit.
