I´m trying to setup a hackintosh for audio using the following configuration:

GigaByte GA-K8NF-9

Athlon64 x2 4200

Sapphire Radeon x1600 Pro 512mb

Line6 TonePort UX-1 (usb)

Jas 10.4.8 + vp1 + du 10.4.7 + ichr7/8 patch

Surprisingly every piece from the mobo is detected and works perfectly, lan, audio, ata, firewire 800, but the problem is once I get QE&CI image support I start to get audio pauses when I use my UX-1 as sound output (on the other hand I also have some graphics artifacts) . Curiously the pauses seems to be less frequent as the time goes, but as soon as I remove my x1600 picid from the Ati1000.kext all the problems dissapear (including the artifacts)...and so does QE and CI lol.

Btw, no matter which installation or method I use to get QE and CI, the problem always happens.

Any suggestion?

Probably I will swap this card for a 7600GS and see if the problem solves...but before doing that It would be nice to discover why this happens.

Regards.

The first person that seems to have the same effect as me.

I have a Toneport and a X1800gto and the Toneport reacts on GUI activity.

I tried different kext´s for usb, toneport setting a different PCI latency with no success. The only idea I have at the moment except waiting for a new USB UHCI kext is trying a PCI USB Controller. I tried one with a VIA Chipset and it did not work but perhaps we only need a card with another USB chipset.

Please report any success ;-) I want to use my Toneport again.

It worked nicely under 10.4.6 JAS but with the switch to 10.4.8 I also switched the graphic card.

Which USB chipset does your mobo has?

Anyway yep, you may be right about a different usb card may solve our problem, but the fact the problem itself is related to video acceleration (if you delete your x1000 kexts it gets solved) makes me suspect is either a failure in Ati drivers (that´s why my second step is trying a QE&CI supported nvidia card) or is a pci xpress 16x mode / usb controller combined problem.

Maybe as soon as a VGA card starts sharing data at high speed the usb controller goes crazy...I hope this is not the real problem, or else the 7600GT card I already reserved will be worthless.

Regards and make me know if you get any success with a different usb controller.
