Shortyman87
hi, i tried to install the JaS 10.4.8 several times now, but i got always the error that no OS was found. Now i tried to install the 10.4.6 version and this works. why do the 10.8.4 version work and the 10.8.8 not? glassJAw
The master boot record in 10.4.8 is corrupted. REFORMAT THE COMPUTER WITH 10.4.6 exit and load the 10.4.8 Disc and Install. Shortyman87
hi, is it necessary to reformate the complete hdd? that would really suck, because i already installed windows xp and vista. so windows would be erased and i would have to do the whole work again. also, i didn't partitionate the hd with the 10.4.8 cd but with partition magic. why did 10.4.8 write the boot sector? MrYellow
I don't think will be necessary to format entire disk. Why you don't search for an another boot loader different to the Darwin's version? I use LILO from linux, but I've seen some about a boot loader with the Vista! Install your 10.4.8 and try that option. I'm not sure but I think the MBR is independent from the partition on the discs and It's contents! Have you tried to boot with the Mac OS on the DVD drive? Shortyman87
hi, i tried it with the acronis os selector like i'm using now with the 10.8.6 version but it didn't work. it's always saing "no os found" when i set the mac os partition active. why should it be the boot loader, i don't get it. the darwin bootloader, whis is espacially made for that, do not work? is the problem surly because of the bootloader or could it be something else, too? shortyman87 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47308-os-x86-1048-problem/#findComment-339353 Share on other sites

Shortyman87
hi, no, i have only one harddrive in my computer, which is partitionated in 3 partitions. the first is for win XP, the second for win vista and the third is (or should be ) for mac os. the thing i don't understand is that the 10.8.4 version works and the 10.8.6 does't work. could it also be the version itself? maybe it is bad? shall i download it again, by another source? shortyman87 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47308-os-x86-1048-problem/#findComment-340531 Share on other sites
jujubeanie21
Boot up with the 10.4.6 disk and enter disk utility. There, ONLY format your OS X partition (and make it journaled too). Don't do anything else, just exit and reboot. Then insert your 10.4.8 disc and install. Look here if the problem persists: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=33216 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47308-os-x86-1048-problem/#findComment-340602 Share on other sites
Shortyman87
hi, ok that worked for me. but something is strange. now with the 10.8.6 version installed, i cannot connect to the internet with my wireless card. it worked with the 10.8.6 version, so why don't it work with the newer version? shortyman87 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47308-os-x86-1048-problem/#findComment-341616 Share on other sites
