billyburly
when I try to run the 10.4.3 install cd (patched) it crashes during the boot process. it just stays at the grey screen with the apple and the little spinning thing. heres a pic of what happens when i boot with the "-v" flag. i have 10.4.1 working on my comp and would like to upgrade it to 10.4.3. any ideas? boot with "-v" flag EDIT: I also tried this on my other computer and as soon as it got to the grey screen it reboots. i tried it on a ibm t43p w/2GHz celeron (boots & crashes) and on a hp zd7000 w P4 2.6GHz (reboots) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4715-1043-install-cd-doesnt-boot/ Share on other sites

roventskij
I have the exact same problem.. :[ 10.4.1 works great but when trying to install 10.4.3 it just stops at the grey apple and the spinning thing. using verbose mode it says "Launching Crash Reporter" and nothing happens though the dvd seems to be reading or something. my specs processor: P4 640 mobo: Abit IG-80, 915G, GMA900 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4715-1043-install-cd-doesnt-boot/#findComment-30613 Share on other sites
roventskij
I got it working! it's very simple, just be patient. It took me about 30 minutes before the installer started and then everything worked like a charm. theethan77
don't want to say your stupid [cause i'm not] but did you all make sure your cd's/dvd's are burned .iso files? or did you burn either A: the file you got on your desktop after downloading it [a folder] B: a .rar [ you didn't extract it!] C: extracted the .iso and burned it these are things i've learned not ot do when learning how to burn images or iso's for linux Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4715-1043-install-cd-doesnt-boot/#findComment-31660 Share on other sites
Metrogirl
Seems this DVD is very fussy. Had various reports of people adding kexts etc. to the image before burning to save time and finding that the image panics, stops at a spinning beachball and so on. Best to change only the oah, oahd files or use the patcher and don't mess with it in any other way. Or it could be a dodgy burn - verify after burning if you can. Also check permissions on any files you change manually. Also as theethan77 says, check your image and how you burn it. Just ideas - sorry if they don't help or you've already done all of that.
