Frontrow works with 10.4.3 (crucked version with keyboard navigation IS out there), though its ppc at the moment. it has problems playing/connecting to itunes, getting the song-infos but cant play the songs, pics and videos work, even with Divx-movies, but its horrible slow cause of the rosetta-use, i suppose.

i've got a serial adaptor for remote controller (osx saw it instantly) - but i dont know how to use it. on xp i use lirc a.s.o - mac side seems to not support it, cause Macs had no serial port yet?!?

Anyone managed to get a serial port adaptor to work? what software should we use? can anyone compile a unibin eniviroment?

and: frontrow ROCKS. Hope that a unibin appears shortly. video playback is to slow if it comes to divx (and it doesnt make a prefetch-dir-structure - it always reads the WHOLE Videos-Drawer - 2-5 minutes waiting before you can see the video-entries... crappy programmed, this video-thing. not speaking of a missing preference of playing videos PAN&Scan for those WITHOUT 20'' monitors...). but dvd and mpeg-videos look great even now in turns of speed (quicktime/apple dvd-player). maybe the playback is quicker if some unibin divx-decoder is installed (something around?).

I would appreciate your experiences with frontrow (how do we get it loaded by pressing a key on the keyboard?) and - most essentially - how to get a remote-control-serial-thing for our OSX86 machines. Remember: Apple remote does not work on the greyboxes cause there is no build-in IR-Device in most of them (like apple machines). serial adaptors are silly cheap (1-5 Euro) - and everybody has remotecontrols around. Imagine getting the new Imac-Remote-Feeling on your Greybox-OSX86...

I've got a version of Front Row running on My Mac Mini G4 1.25 GHZ. I have found a IR device that comes with a remote, not the apple remote but it is programmable so that you can control anything that is IR within a 50 foot range. THis works well because I have everything on my desk in my bedroom. It does work with Front Row all you do is have the keyboard hack and then program the iRed to do the keyboard strokes. if you need anything let me know. smgarwood@gmail.com the link to the iRed device is iRed. this should do everything you need.
