Semt-X
Hey all, Right now im running 10.4.8 on my system. My specs are: Asus A8n-E AMD 3700+ (64-bit CPU) 2gb DDR400 (dual channel) 80gb HD IDE Nvidia 7800 GT graphic card NEC DVD burner Is it worth to upgrade the CPU to 4200+ X2 and also put some memory extra in it, so that it would come to 4gb DDR Dual Channel? Is 10.4.8 running faster with this or doesn't it make any difference??? Or is it only usefull to upgrade my memory??? Im not thinking of getting myself a whole new system, so it must run on this one.... Can anybody help me out?? Thnx in advance! Dainix
Your RAM should be fine. I'm running OSx86 on 2GB, which runs awesomely. Unless you're running some memory intensive stuff, 2GB should suffice. Not sure about the processor. I've heard of some issues that come up with the Athlon X2 brand. Search around on the forums about it. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46865-is-it-worth-to-upgrade-my-system/#findComment-335474 Share on other sites
Semt-X
Is it true when i upgrade my memory that OSX will run faster? Im working with Photoshop, Illustrator. So is upgrading the memory effective? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46865-is-it-worth-to-upgrade-my-system/#findComment-335482 Share on other sites

Snerler
I have AMD 4200+ X2 on Nforce4 running perfectly right after installing with dual core recognized. With 2 gigs of ram also, and it runs very well. The thing is that your 3700 is probably just as fast untill you begin multitasking in which case the X2 helps. Also more ram will not help much unless you are running some memory intensive programs. Id say dont upgrade uless its to something substantially faster.
