Alwin
Hello there, I really hope you ppl can help me running OSX on my PC. There are a lot of threads on this forum, and also some threads about the Intel 965 chipset. I tried several solutions (like patching and using VMWare), but can't get OSX running/booting. My Hardware: - MSI 965 Neo-F - Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 (2,13 Ghz / 1066Mhz FSB) - 2x 1GB Kingston DDR2 PC6400/800Mhz - ASUS G-Force 7600-GT - 2x 250 GB SATAII Disks - External USB IDE Disk - Internal IDE Disk - Internal DVD-ROM Samsung, also on the IDE port. I have a patched ISO with: - JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSe2.SSe3.v1p.ppf - Defiant.diskutil.7.ppf I don't have the "ICH7R/8R patch for JaS 10.4.8 Intel/AMD SSE2/SSE3", because i don't have a registered account @ demonoid.com I already tried 10.4.6 / 10.4.8 (unpatched) / 10.4.8 (v1p) - When i boot the dvd, i got the famous "com.apple.Boot.plist" error. - Not able to install it thru VMWare ('waiting for root device ...') - The common errors with the 965 chipset Can someone maybe help me installing it on a USB HD or is there any solution to install OSX on 965 chipsets? Thread: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...125&hl=P965 Alwin: I can't change to the AHCI option in the BIOS, does not excist... Thread: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...524&hl=P965 Alwin: Similar to my thread (i don't have external USB DVD), but it seems not to work using a external USB DVD drive. Thread: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=34938 Alwin: Could not test the "jmb-patch.ppf" don't have demonoid account. PS. Don't mind the bad english, i think you guys understand my problem. adurbe
tried that with/without jmicron patch and the ss2.ss3 unpatched original which i then patched up from scratch. The jmicron patch seems to corrupt the installer as the name that is displayed on boot (in darwin) is garbled I have tried downloading the patch multiple times as i thought the original may have been corrupt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46413-installing-osx-on-a-msi-965-neo-intel-core-2-duo-e6400/#findComment-363284 Share on other sites

ecr24901
Ah, but it is possible. i've installed OSX86 on both the P965 Neo & Platinum. You need to buy an IDE to SATA adapter for your DVD drive and connect it to the 1st Intel ICH8 SATA port and then you can boot from the DVD. Hook up your harddrive to the JMicron SATA port (you can move it later if you want post-install after you install/edit some drivers). Hope this helps, and let me know if you need more info... marticus
hi, i just chanced upon this thread. i have a system much similar to yours. msi p965 mobo, intel e6300 proc., crucial 2gb dual channel kit. i was wondering if you could maybe write a guide. i've never been able to install osx natively on this computer. i have had to install on another computer edit the kext and stick the hard drive back into this computer to get osx86 to work. i've tried your technique via vm-ware using the uphuck_10.4.9_v1.4i_r3 dvd. all i get is this error touch: var/run/installer: Read-only file system thanks, marticus ps. which bios version do you have? maybe this might be the issue i'm having. oh and i also bought a macbook Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46413-installing-osx-on-a-msi-965-neo-intel-core-2-duo-e6400/#findComment-442089 Share on other sites

Timpu
Actually I didn't even use vmware installation. I used uphuck 10.4.9 1.4i r2 DVD. Everything just went easy. I think the most important thing was that RAID setting in BIOS. And from options i chose the same but I'm using griffin imic as my soundcard so no need for the audiodrivers for me. I have updated my os x now to 10.4.10 but the thing is that i can't open the about this mac, it does sudden crash. Atm i'm trying to get leopard to show my drives and I'm wondering which kext files i need to make it work on my x86. trying to combine Uphuck and Leopard somehow. if I manage to make it work i shall inform here Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46413-installing-osx-on-a-msi-965-neo-intel-core-2-duo-e6400/#findComment-485899 Share on other sites
