videotape74
Hey everyone, i went ahead and installed the 10.4.7 DVD by JaS on my system and it seems to be running ok, now I just have a couple questions that I thought maybe some of you guys could help me with. My system specs are: Intel P4 @ 1.7gHz (which it's reading as a 3.0gHz P4) Intel Desktop Board (D845EBG2) 512MB RAM (PC3200 DDR) Gigabyte Radeon 9550 256 MB Toshiba SD-R5272 8x DVD+/-RW It recognizes my mouse, keyboard, video card, my cd & dvd drive, my lan and firewall all fine. I haven't checked the sound yet, I assume I have to find drivers somewhere. Also, is there a set of video drivers for my card (Gigabyte ATI Radeon 9550) available or do I have to leave them as is? Also when I first booted up it said there were some available updates (i.e. Mac OS X Updated Combined 10.4.9/iTunes 7.1.1 & Quicktime 7.1.5), am I ok to get those, or is it a no no? Oh, one more thing, can someone suggest a good anti-virus/firewall for Mac? Thank you very much for any/all help....I have a feeling I have a lot of stuff to learn! lol Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46230-i-got-1047-by-jas-up-and-running-on-my-system/ Share on other sites
WaldMeister
The 10.4.9 update, you should browse the forum for that, you need to replace some files for that. And for OS X you don't need an Antivirus. For a firewall, you could use Little Snitch. Vipersfate
You almost don't need a firewall as well lol. Did you check for QE/CI compatibility? Itunes and Quicktime are ok to update, but as deamobile said, don't install the 10.4.9 update.
