If it is not in the constitution, the bill of rights, or the amendments, then cluster {censored} it.

 

I don't care anything about issues that district from what out government is doing anymore. The so called 'democrats' said that

their goals were to impeach bush when they got in office, yet the sorry, son of a {censored} is still there. WHY DID NANCY PELOSI LIE ????

 

Mostly because there IS NO DEMOCRAT / REPUBLICAN / LIBERAL WTF EVER. There is the ELITE, then the PEOPLE, and right now, the PEOPLE

Socially I am very liberal ({censored} rights, abortion, etc.)

 

Governmentally I am libertarian (I feel like morality shouldn't be legislated, I feel like we should all have the freedom to {censored} up our own lives if we so choose[this includes legalizing drugs, prostitution, etc.]). Also the government should be given enough money to perform its basic operations, with a priority on education, healthcare, infastructure (roads, hospitals, etc.) and national defense (only when absolutely necessary).

 

The only laws I feel are right are ones that prevent the physical harm of its citizens (Stealing, raping, killing, etc.)

 

Laws of mental harm should not be laws because there is no way to Prove or measure mental harm (its unfortunate, but that's the way it is)

 

lastly, offense does not count as harm (if you think that two {censored} guys harm you...in reality they really offend you, absolutely zero harm)

 

I feel like the police are too focused on preventing useless crime (marijuana smokers, etc.) and in doing so are becoming over bloated and have lost their focus (stopping people who commit crimes)

I'm liberal about some things and conservative about others. Libertarian I guess. The only interest I have in someone else's personal life is a scientific (and gossip maybe) interest.

Ok, I have to vote conservative, but I must add this addendum: I am conserative in the Jeffersonian tradition, which most of those who identify theirselves as conservative are not. Those who follow the Jeffersonian tradition used to be called "classical liberals", and to some extent today identify more closely with some elements of the Libertarians. I'll expand on this more, when I've got more time to post, but for now, since The Constitution was drafted from a Jeffersonian perspective, with some unfortunate influence from Hamilton, like OryHara, you can consider me a Constitutionalist (Please note, that James Madison was the one prmarily responsible for drafting The Constitution, and he was very closly allied with Jefferson although not nearly as outspoken as Jefferson. Also due to the strong influence of Patrick Henry, and George Mason the Bill of Rights was added to the Constitution. If you have any doubts as to Madison's close alliance with Jefferson, just read The Kentucky, and The Virginia Resolutions of 1798 authored by Jefferson & Madison respectively, and The Kentucky Resolution of 1799 authored by Jefferson).

I'll comment on this more later, but *most* republicans do not have a clue as to what their partys real agenda is. You have to understand that (the formaly free) united States is probably the most heavily propagandized country on the face of God's earth. The same is true of the democrat's as well. I've got to hit the hay right now, but I'll try to expand on the actual doctrine/policies of the two parties in later posts. I suspect that I will make no friends on either side of the supposed political spectrum when I do so, but alas those who are willing to tell the truth are never well liked. ;-)

At the risk of being discordant, it is very easy to make claims about freedom vs law, but if you're the owner of slaves, they're somewhat... attenuated.

 

Freedom is nice, but freedom must stop where someone else starts, otherwise some people are more free than others.

 

The founders explicitly enumerated the rights of each citizen to prevent people from saying "The constitution doesnt say anything about due process, or freedom of assembly".

 

Had the founders known what we know now, they probably would have done things differently (such as made the constitution a little more straightforward).

I think most people know what's right and what they should be doing, but their own morality is an inconvenience to them when they need something done (the ends justify the means). This is why we need something like a constitution, to make it that much harder for us to put aside our morality for some personal agenda

Freedom of slaves didnt concern them, because slaves werent human enough to be free. They were not wrong. They also werent right. Might makes right is a very real axiom. Think of it this way: We think of pets such as dogs, cats or Pokemon as our friends and companions. But basicly, they're nothing more than slaves. Who determines whether or not a dog is capable of enough self-determination to be given freedom from ownership? Dogs? I didnt think so. Yet in our society, most people agree that having a pet is morally defensible. Just as the slaveholders saw the owning of slaves as morally defensible. Back in the day, there were the quakers advocating rights and freedom for black people. Today, we have PETA advocating rights and freedom for cats. What's the difference? (the argument against this is that dogs and cats dont exhibit sentience [as we know it]. but apes do, and that doesnt make them free.)

 

Moral (or ethical) correctness depends entirely on your point of view. Pharaoh was entirely justified and correct to have the hebrew children slaughtered, to prohibit the hebrew slaves from outbreeding their egyptian masters and taking over. Hitler was entirely justified in creating a scapegoat people for similar reasons. Had Germany won WWII, being a jew would be an absolute wrong (if any where left), and preemptively attacking your neighbours would be an absolute right (it seems like it is now, actually). Germany didnt win. We did. And the universal morality is as we make it. Terrorists are absolutely justified in blowing up innocent children, just as the US is absolutely justified in blowing up innocent children (to get terrorists).

Yeah, I guess you're right, I just have too much faith in people (they suck a lot more than I think they do I know)

 

and for the record I have a few animals that live with me, I dont own them, no matter what the law says, they ARE my friends and my companions, if they get tired of living with me, they are free to leave whenever they want (but..they wont because im such a nice guy hehe).

 

I also know that when it comes to morality, most of the time its one big blur of gray rather than black and white (as some people would have you believe). But honestly, I really do believe people know where things belong on the scale, but I ALSO believe that most people are too weak to actually live up to themselves in any kind of meaningful way.

I am not against having pets. And I'm not against having slaves (just as long as I'm not the slave, anyways). But bear in mind that a domesticated animal would find it very difficult to adapt to freedom, and would probably die if they left you. So, while it's true that you do not actively coerce your pets, they depend on you for their existence.

 

It's good that people know what they think is right. Moderation comes in when people realize that just because they think something is right doesnt mean that everyone else does, or that it is a universal moral right.
