Hi,

o´la mon ami :P

Been saying that for a long time, do a search on my posts...

Basically, Intel does NOT have an exlusive licensing agreement as they did at one time with Dell with Apple.

Apple has been part of AMD Hypertransport consortium since its conception.

I stated, use intel for all the R&D (very deep pockets)....

And most MAC users that bought a PC for Audio/Video work bought AMD as at one time, Intel had to have at least 1 gigahertz to match AMD, AMD was to the PC what IBM was to APPLE, megahertz myth and all that. Of course it changed with Duo Core and Duo Core 2, now, here is where it gets interesting. On one hand. Intel has an 8 core and Apple is reva, ping almost every quarter, something real old time MAC users are not used to and at the same time, keeping the new hardware at the (CPU I mean) with PC at the same price, meaning they (Apple) make the machines stronger, and trickle down the rest of the CPU's to the rest of the line.

Example.

New Mac Pro = 8 Core and 8 Core x2

iMAC/MBP = Xeon although unsure as they use ECC memory that needs massive heat sinks but it could be a 4 x 2 core new CPU

MacBook, New GPU and 2x2 core

Mini Dou Core 2 whats in the present Macbook.

At the same time, rumor has it AMD has a 8/16 core and a Duo Core 2 killer that combined with 64 bit (Leapord) and AMD still has the fastest memory bus, could spell AMD and APPLE as Apple would benifit from it if it turns out to be true (core 2 killer) with STRONG ATI graphics, especially with all the rumors of TOUCH SCREEN and CORE GRAPHICS (Pro Tools Killer), etc.

Great time for the consumer, this means though, if you are running a Hack and where planning on getting a MAC soon, it is wise to wait until at least June.

Just my 3 cents.

:(

Considering amongst other things, AMD's new chipset that basically brings HD to the masses, it wouldn't be such a bad idea :)

Besides, the power balance between AMD and Intel is always fluctuating. At one time AMD was kicking Intel's bony old behind, now the opposite is happening, and probably within a few months or so, we're back at the former situation.

So why would Apple stick with Intel all the way. Unless they're getting kickbacks and whatnot :)

AMD is already in bed with Dell, a threesome with Apple would do them some good :)

I'll give up the sex-analogies now, excuse me :(
