it cant seem to use it!!

Any workarounds here? I'm very new to mac, and uh, according to the 1st ss is my network card detected? if it is why did the 2nd and 3rd screenie appear? My network card is a REALTEK RTL8139 Family PCI fast ethernet NIC. Modem is an aztech ASDL modem, and is turned on, and it works fine with windows.

I read around here somewhere that VPN doesn't work. The guy tried everything, and eventually had to ask his ISP to change his connection for him somehow (I think it's something about the ISP making it accessible inside their system, rather than his home). Sorry dude! :P

I doubt OSX has found your network card. Under WinXP you can do a "System Resource report" from the Control Panel. That will list all the chipsets and make it easier for everyone to see what works. Post that and the answer should be easier to find.

Mhm, or it's not installed correctly. VPN can be used on top of any network connection, which is why it's sitting there in the absence of a real device. You probably got it there by [mistakenly] using Internet Connect -- generally it only shows in the Network prefpane if you have VPN configured to actually do something.

You don't need to use Windows though -- look in System Profiler and select en0, not VPN... alternately, open Terminal and type 'ifconfig en0' sans quotes... then give us screenies of that.
