ndtwc
Now I have Mac OS X running on my PC happily, but I also need Windows for gaming. So I want dual boot now. I have Windows Vista previously installed in another partition (the boot partition? i m not sure), and what I just tried to do is to boot from the Vista DVD, yes it did boot, but after the little green loading bar displayed on the screen, nothing happened, which is supposed to be a beautiful Vista installation screen. So I cannot choose "Repair" from there. Could anybody tell me how can I repair Vista now? And some more, I have two other partitions in HTFS format, including the Vista partition, and I used MacFUSE so I can write to those two partiions under Mac too. Originally it's working perfectly, but one day it returns this error to me, errcode -36, try to boot into Windows twice to fix this problem. Oh I cant even boot to there how can I fix it? Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45517-unable-to-boot-from-vista-dvd-after-installing-mac-os-x-on-pc/ Share on other sites
popehasabadidea
Hey, I have the same problem, except my OS X installation never got to work (I kept having the still waiting for root device error), and I have ubuntu and grub bootloader. But I can't boot into my vista installation and I can't boot from the vista dvd, nothing happens after the green loading bar. Anyone have any ideas? First time hearing a thing called GPARTED-live-cd! A nice Linux copy just for harddisk partitioning! Looks like a great tool. And do u have some brief note on how to use "cfdisk" and "gparted"? Thx And I tried the fdisk on Mac but it looks like it's not working, maybe my method was not correct. tuxuser33
Why not take the easy way? Boot off of GPARTED-liv-CD. A graphical userinterface like in Powerquest PartitionMagic or Acronis Diskmanager appears. Klick (with the right mouse button) on the right partition. Select "manage flags" i.E "boot" ; if nessessary change "hidden" to not selected (no X in the box). Changes will be done immedeatly. Leave the app and do a reboot. Thats all. Oh setting the Windows partition to active really solved the problem! Thanks you guys again! I can repair Windows, and use MacFUSE again finally.
