Hi everyone,

My old Celeron 2ghz is starting to show it's age. (Not to mention the 32mb pci graphics card).

I want to purchase a new Motherboard, CPU and Graphics card. Does anyone have advice on what would be the most compatible setup with 10.4.8?

For Motherboard and CPU options, I'm really lost. However, for GPU's, from what I've in the forums however, 6600 Geforce seems to be the way to go. Does it need to be AGP, or can it be PCI-E.

If you were to purchase a new mobo/cpu/gpu combo, what would you pick?

Thanks for the help.

I would think that PCI-e is a better choice, remember there is no intel mac ever had a AGP slot. And definitely Intel CPU as well for obvious reasons.

I personally, would buy a real mac, or if you're set on customisation:

Get an Intel motherboard with a 945 chipset, and a GMA950 video out. SMP is a plus, but make sure the board is listed in the wiki as having good support, and is DDR8500 capable.

Get 1 or more Intel Core 2 Duo processors or Multicore 64 bit Xeons.

As much DDR2-PC8500 as you can. That's the 1066mhz one.
