alvin777
Hi. For OSx86 on a budget with a only 2 memory slots using Asus' P5LD2-VM SE board. Which would be a faster system, overall (reminder overclocking could damage your 'Hackintosh'): a) half the RAM using generic brand 512MB memory instead of 1GB then buy a good card like the 7900GS get a single stick of 1GB memory but disregard the graphics card and just use the built-in GMA950 for graphics c) get 2 sticks of 512MB which leaves you with no slots but in turn you'll get dual channel then just use the built-in GMA950 for graphics d) get 1 stick of 1GB memory but get a lower card like the 7600GS e) get a Corsair 512MB DDRII 667 and an Intel E4300 overclock to to upto 3Ghz and get a good card like the 7900GS f) get 1 stick Corsair 1GB DDRII 667 and an Intel E4300 overclock up to 3Ghz and get a lower card like the 7600GS g) same as e only it's Intel E6300 and overclock upto to maybe 2.3Ghz h) same as g only it's Corsair 1GB DDRII 667 i) faster CPU E6600, lower card 7300GT, 512MB j) E6600, GMA950, 1 stick 1GB k) same as j only it's 2 sticks of 512MB L) 2GB generic RAM, GMA950, 7300GT, E4300 overclocked, m) same as L only its E6300 n) recommend your combo based on components mentioned, including the graphics card below In addition supossing you've chosen components for your Osx86 system except the graphics card: a) getting the one with double the memory like the 7600GS 256ddr2 vs. 7600GS 512ddr2 have a significance? 7600GST 128ddr3 vs. 7600GS 256ddr2 *(7600GST is just a dollar more expensive than 7600GS) c) 7600GST 128ddr3 vs. 7600GS 512ddr2 *(7600GS is about 20 dollars more expensive than the 7600GST and the 7600GS 256ddr2 one) That's it, I hope it helps out a lot of people too. Thanks for taking the time. hecker
I will not answer exactly which combo is the best, sorry. But I would definitely go for more good ram (not that cheap junk) and save for a better graphics card later, unless you have no working card at all. A system with a great card but lame RAM will be generally slower than the opposite. Since you have only two ram slots, you also might want to consider getting 1 quality 1GB stick, in case you need to upgrade later. Save your money for a decent graphics card. You will be happier on the long run. alvin777
Thanks for the reply. I was routing for a) as well deep inside but now its confirmed that its better to save and be patient. It's good that this board I plan to have for this OSx86 has a built-in graphics card. Btw, are you filipino living in the Philippines? I hope to get the parts this week. Thanks again. hecker
Btw, are you filipino living in the Philippines? Hehe, no bro. I'm a mix of spanish/chilean/american. But I guess I do look like some kind of filipino drug smuggler in the pic, hehe.
