alvin777
Hi. My board is an ECS Nforce4-939 with Athlon6 3200, Sparkle Gforce 6600GT PCI-e, Marvell 88E1111 Lan, Realtek AL662, WD Caviar SE SATA 80GB, Kingston Value 2 x 512MB DDR400, LG DVD RW drive, BIOS (Award) is set at default Performance (this is its fail safe setting. The other is Optimum setting), OSx86 iso is the AMD/Intel 10.4.8 that has the Natit patch and other patches. OSx86 intalls fine. The the gray Apple Logo on gray background shows with that circle animated indicator presents itself but after a while it stops and this circle animated indicator becomes a gray 'no entry' sign or what looks like a 'no smoking' sign (circle with a slash, without the cigarrette of course). I have reinstalled this iso many times with all the combinations of patches Natit (for single monitor or dual or both) and checkmarks possible. Could this be in the BIOS setting or the hardware itself? What does this sign mean? Do I need to change anything in the BIOS? Where in the forum is there a recommended BIOS setting for the Hackintosh? Thanks in advance. P.S. I have not taken a picture of it. I can't install OSx86 again because I'm on Vista RC1 right now. Bruce Wang
If you want to dual boot with Vista, you can refer to the below thread: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=39253 The method to solve HFS+ Error is useful. alvin777
Thanks for the reply. Dual boot would be alright but I will go for just a single OS this time, OSX intel only. What does that 'no smoking sign look alike' mean anyway? Anyone? I would think that everything's compatible because it got to boot the iso DVD and installed the OS but I suppose it won't boot. GimmeRed
What it means is you have selected to install something that is not compatible with your system. When you select the suport for most common hardware you need to click on the little triangle beside it and you can uncheck all the things that your computer does not need. These are the things that are messing you up. I have an extra harddrive that I throw in to see what works and what doesn't. Ferret-Simpson
Actually, what it means is Kernel Panic or drive read error. But whatever.
