unknownserv
Hello, Just installed 10.4.8 with the JaS patches, and deviant. It installed fine, but after a few minutes on the apple logo screen (trying to boot) it says to reboot. Any idea how to fix? Neonkoala
It helps if you tell us what the error is. Boot with -v in the boot options and see what it says. unknownserv
How can I add -v into the options if it is booting from the hdd? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44829-installs-but-wont-boot/#findComment-320864 Share on other sites
Neonkoala
If you don't see the darwin bootloader when you boot up you need to make it visible by bashing F8 with force until it comes up before the grey apple screen. Then you will see a black and white screen which you can type in boot options. Add -v and press enter. unknownserv
Yea I do see darwin, but it just starts to boot. I'm using chain0 with the vista bootloader. Neonkoala
Well type in the -v where it says "Boot:" before you press enter then press enter. By now I strongly advise you stick with Vista and just leave OSx86 well alone. unknownserv
Right, i'll do -v later. Think why it wouldn't prompt for me to press F8 was that their was no timeout set? I've set it to 8 seconds now. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44829-installs-but-wont-boot/#findComment-321511 Share on other sites
unknownserv
Done the boot with -v, it doesn't go any futher than "Localgost - mDNSResponder: Couldn't read user-specified localhost name". Any ideas? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44829-installs-but-wont-boot/#findComment-323829 Share on other sites

colin.a
Can you take a picture of the entire kernel output please. The error may not lie in the last line you see. I'd need more detail to diagnose your problem. If you can take a picture, please make sure it's readable -C.
