Aufgedyng
Hi, Any expert that know how to get a Nvidia 7900GS up and running with OSX 10.4.8? I have done a fresh installation with Jas 10.4.8 Intel PPF1. After installation i installed Nitat.kext manually and after this i get black screen telling me that i need to press restart button and there i'm stuck. Any help appreciated! KasperNL
I've got an Asus GeForce 7900GS 256MB PCI-e.. After installing Natit Dual v0.2 it works perfectly. Remember you'll have to chmod and chown the files and also remove the extension.mkext etc.. Aufgedyng
Thanks for your fast response! Is it onle the Natit.kext that i need to install and chmod/chown? or do i need more files? I have not used OSX for long at this level , i used the install DVD to boot and used Terminal to remove the old Natit drivers that prevented boot. Is there any way to boot up a faulty installation in a debug mode like Windows safe mode without the DVD? Aufgedyng
I have now installed the Natit 0.2 Dual, the system boots up, the log show this: display: family specific matching fails Natit: Starting. Natit: Setting @0,NVMT=<data not shown> Natit: Setting device_type=NVDA,Parent Natit: Setting @1,device_type=display Natit: Setting @0,compatible=NVDA,NVMac Natit: Setting @1,compatible=NVDA,NVMac Natit: Setting @0,fboffset=0x00020000 Natit: Setting @1,name=NVDA,Display-B Natit: Setting @0,name=NVDA,Display-A Natit: Setting NVCAP=<data not shown> Natit: Setting @0,device_type=display Natit: Setting model=Unknown nVidia NVDA,Display-B: Not usable This does not tell me much except that the first line does not look good, under display settings i cannot change any resolutions. Any clue what to do? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44763-nvidia-7900gs-should-it-work/#findComment-320733 Share on other sites

Aufgedyng
Macvidia did not work either, just got black screen after boot. Is there anyway to debug the problem? There seems to be lots of people that actually got the 7900GS to work. Aufgedyng
After doing some resarch messing with device ID's and getting nothing but kernel panics I take it there is no way to get this card to work. To those who actually have 7900GS working i would like to know if it is a 256Mb or 512Mb card. I have found a number of threads where people say that there's currently no support for 512Mb version of the card. Can some with great experience confirm this so i can return the card and buy another one it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! lentiflo13
My xfx 7900gs pci-e x16 is very blurry in osx 10.4.8, with either titan or natit dual 0.2 installed an is hurting my eyes. My monitors works perftect in windows, I am using a dvi->vga adapter. My res is : 1280x1024@75hz, monitor reports correctly also, but it is really hurting my eyes, Tried changing the text rendering and is still not sharp. Anyone able to fix this or similiar problems? P. S., I changed the kernel for the card and no longer kernel panicks, but still is blurry. card has 256MB Ram Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44763-nvidia-7900gs-should-it-work/#findComment-353614 Share on other sites
