kernalzero
you most likely killed your install. what is your hardware, what disc did you use to install (10.4.x fill in the x) and what updates did you run. the software update isn't overly friendly to hackintoshes between the combo updates and software updates like itunes can corrupt the install. I would reinstall and search the forums for what updates are safe or what work arounds there are available for ones that will destroy the install. I'm yet to run into any problems with my install Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44559-hanging-at-the-grey-spinning-thing/#findComment-319382 Share on other sites

Mebster
If you ran apple update and selected the latest OS X update then that would be the issue. For example if you install 10.4.6 and run apple update and it shows you can update to 10.4.8, itunes, quicktime,.... you can more or less update everything except to 10.4.x. I did that once and OS X wouldn't load. Had to reinstall. kernalzero
You bet, start here. It's where everyone else here starts. as far as what I used for updating, I used the paulicat method. it allows you to use the software update to update the OS but be cautious and check the forum for program updates like i tunes and security updates. that link details the steps, i suggest you only use that method if you have an intel system with sse3 (i can't confirm sse2). backup your system prior to using this update though as I'm not responsible for it's failure.
