I've had my nice 10.4.7 install for months now, but because of the iTunes thing I needed to upgrade to 10.4.8. So I followed a guide, updated to 10.4.8 and put the new kernel in there too.

All boots up fine, gets to the logon window... then fails. Then I remembered - the guide didn't tell me to replace logonwindow etc with decrypted versions... doh! I could kick myself

So I'm stuck with a system that won't boot, and the only decrypted versions I have are 10.4.3. I don't suppose there is a torrent or something that contains JUST the 10.4.8 decrypted binaries? Or am I going to have to download the whole 4 gig sheebang again?

Hi Kiko

like I said, everything goes ok until I get to logon, when I'm getting:

--

launchd: /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow port /dev/console exited abnormally: Illegal instruction

launchd: /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow port /dev/console exited abnormally: Illegal instruction

launchd: /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow port /dev/console exited abnormally: Illegal instruction

launchd: /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow port /dev/console exited abnormally: Illegal instruction

scrolling up the screen about 100 times. then:

launchd: getty repeating too quickly on port /dev/console, sleeping

"illegal instruction" doesn't tell me or you a lot. I'll try deleting kext and kernal caches and see if I can't fix it. Maybe I need a new loginwindow.app??
