hopspitfire
I was using azureus and it the torrents were being written to my windows partition. I have been using azureus for a long time, and for about a month I've been using it on my Dell-Mac. Last weekend, all of a sudden my computer said it needed to restart. When I restarted it, half of my windows partition was GONE. I've had FULL read/write support before this. The windows directory is also gone, as I've tried booting into windows and it automatically says some *.sys files are missing. THe thing is, the files aren't completely gone. If I still look at the free space amount, it is 1.6gb out of 55gb. I tried reinstalling the NTFS-3G drivers to no avail. Now I cannot even access the ntfs partition from OSX. I also booted into the ubuntu 6.06 LTS Live CD and mounted the partition, it also shows the same outlook (half of the files/folders missing). How can I recover these files? Are there any disk recovery agents for MAC that I can use to get my files back? I'm running a Dell Latitude D820 while dual-booting windows and osx86 on a single 80gb harddrive. Neonkoala
I suggest using a Windows based data recovery utility as it will have 100% Microsoft NTFS support, you used an experimental driver and unfortunately got unlucky. You have to be careful with anything that claims to have NTFS write support for other OSes as they can't use MS code as it's not Opensource making them highly experimental. This seems like good recovery software, bear in mind that anything decent is likely to be commercial. http://www.diskinternals.com/ntfs-recovery/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43880-ntfs-3g-erased-half-of-my-windows-partition/#findComment-314320 Share on other sites

toolshed
When you've recovered, try PARAGON's NTFS for OSX software. I found it to be excellent.
