Slevin
Basically, normally in XP I can go into my computer and see my other partitionts and access them, however in parallels, I cannot do this. Any suggestions how to fix this? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43751-parallels-xp-cant-view-partitions/ Share on other sites
hecker
I am not sure because I have just tried parallels twice, but I think you have to make your partitions available by "sharing" them as network locations through parallels. hecker Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43751-parallels-xp-cant-view-partitions/#findComment-312769 Share on other sites
erbic
It's not a "bug" per se. A virtual machine is typically a closed system, without any(much) interaction with the host system. Hardware, hard disk drives, etc. are emulated through Parallels. That's why you most likely have a .hdd file taking up several gigs of your hard disk space. Only way to access your Mac file system is to do it through Shared Folders, wherein the folders/drives show up in your virtual XP system as network locations. In the newest Parallels beta, you can also choose to just share your Home folder, which is usually enough.
