aldrlandon93
My current problem is that I can boot into the install just fine with the dvd that is in the title, but the installation always hangs when it is installing the first part of the operating system (the core system part 1 or something like that). I gives me the message "Please try installing again," and I am unable to install. The installer log says "Install Failed: Some files of the Essentials may not have been written correctly." I have tried cleaning my dvd-rom drive, using a different drive, disabling usb legacy support (it has been disabled this whole time), tried burning the dvd again on a different burner with the slowest speed (1x), and have also tried redownloading the iso and burning it, but all hang with this error. My System Specs are: -Athlon 64 3200+ Venice -1GB DIMM of PC3200 RAM -Ati Radeon X1300 Pro 256MB PCIe -Western Digital 20GB IDE Hard Drive (well, that's the one I'm installing to, my main is unplugged from the motherboard and power) -Fortron BlueStorm 500W PSU -Tried burning once with Samsung Lightscribe DVD+ or - RW with a DVD+R DVD -Tried burning once with Benq DVD+ or - RW with another DVD+R DVD ***NOTHING ON THIS SYSTEM IS IN ANY WAY OVERCLOCKED Any help would be greatly apreciated, Landon Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43573-jas-1048-amd-intel-installer-error-essentials/ Share on other sites

SnowHow
The only time I ran into that I had to clean my DVD drive. Is Your DVD drive set to Master? is it an older drive? Basically I'm thinking hardware problem. If the installer starts, but can't finish, it's physically being interferred with. aldrlandon93
Thanks so much for your help. Its not currently set to master, so I'll try that and I'll try cleaning it. aldrlandon93
Ok, I cleaned the drive and also set it as master, which got me a little further into the installation, but during the essentials install it says "Please try installing again" again and the error that it gives me in the log is "BomfileError 5: Input/Output error - /Volumes/Mac/System/Library/CoreServices/._system" Anyone have any clue? SnowHow
Okay, if your drive is at master and it has been cleaned my last-ditch trick is to boot into the installer in "safe Mode" Boot from DVD. At the option screen (when it counts down), press F8. Then type: -v (space) -x The install script will start with minimal drivers and you should be able to install with that. aldrlandon93
Thanks, but I have already tried that and it seems to get stuck still. It really doesn't make any sense. I think I just need to get another dvd drive, but if someone else has any other suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Guest bikedude880
Try burning your DVD at the lowest possible speed that your burner supports. Oddly enough this can clear up many issues with installing. aldrlandon93
All of my dvds were burnt at 1x speed and were burnt on two different dvd burners. They both stop at that same point. One iso was downloaded from demonoid (with the ppv 1 patches), and the other was from Mininova, but they both stop at the same point and give in the installer log the same error ("BomfileError 5: Input/Output error - /Volumes/Mac/System/Library/CoreServices/._system") Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43573-jas-1048-amd-intel-installer-error-essentials/#findComment-312263 Share on other sites

velayo
I don't think that is a bad dvd copy, as I have install mine many times, however after my motherboard died I had to buy a new mobo and cpu. Now I get the same error as you are getting with the same disk I had used to install many times before. I even downloaded a new copy and I keep getting the same error. At this point I'm thinking that there might be something wrong with my hd and that may be your case too. Can you try installing to another drive? I installed to a different drive and then cloned the drive to the one that was giving me problems. I could then use it but keep getting errors when I donwload things from the internet (they get corrupted). So I honestly think that is a hd problem. aldrlandon93
I was able to attach the hard drive to a dell, and install it to my hard drive, but when I go to boot it hangs at "BSD Root disk0s1 14 2." So I have no idea what's wrong Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43573-jas-1048-amd-intel-installer-error-essentials/#findComment-312544 Share on other sites

aldrlandon93
You have to keep in mind that it installed fine on a dell dimension 3000, so it can't be the dvd, but when I slap the hard drive into my amd box with all of the right amd patches installed, it hangs at BSD Root rdisk0s1, 14, 2 or something like that. I have tried wiping the hd and dowloaded a couple of utilities to fix the drive and they all say that it is working flawlessly. I have tried with two different dvd players pioner 111d (apple shipped and supported) and an lg. The same error comes up everytime. Wish someone had a solution for this problem. velayo
I've been having the same issue since January when my P4 motherboard died. I upgraded to a Dual Core 2, asus P5LD2-VM motherboar, 1 gb PNY DDR2 and a new Pioneer 111D dvd drive (perfect setup for OSX). When I got my system ready to install the installation crashed about 45-80% of the essentials installation. I've changed my motherboard twice, my cpu (got a new one from intel in exchange for what I thought was a defective one) a new western digital 320 sata hard drive. I even changed my powersupply to an Antec Neo HE 550. Advised by other people I've burned 12 different DVD's, I even tried to install my old 10.4.3-10.4.7 with the same errors. I've tried diffrent media brands for the dvds. Three different dvd burners/players. I've seen a lot of other people suffering from the same error and haven't seen a good asnwer or response that actually solves the problem. I'm running out of ideas, please help!!! boinkytwo
Im also having the same problem. My native installation stops at 50%- 60%. I already use another dvd reader and extra hdd, but still havin the same problem. Even in vmware installtion, with the iso being mounted with deamon, alcohol and magic disk, but still the same problem arises. Installation of "Essentials" abruptly stops. Im using HotISO 10.4.6 dvd. I downloaded it from a torrent site, in RAR file. It had a crc error when unpacked, but still, I managed to extract it successfully wiht 7zip but still with errors. I have no further problem with the iso and the burned iso, except for the installation error of "ESSENTIALS". boinkytwo
My Problem was solved by re-downloading from another source and another file. Its the ISO that has problem. Download from good known source.
