guice Posted February 22, 2007 Share Posted February 22, 2007 (edited) So, it would appear the outcome of my WoW troubles may very well be related to my video card and not being fully supported by OSX and even Natit, which could make sense. Which means, I need to look at video cards. What's a suggested NVidia card to run with OSx86? I'm thinking a 7600GT (that's officially supported by Apple [option on their high-end iMac]). Anybody else having any suggestions, personal notions, private vendettas, or just any other all choice words as to which would work best on Hackintosh systems? If I get a video card that's officially supported by Apple, will I still need Natit? guice Posted February 22, 2007 Author Share Posted February 22, 2007 In my long saga of video card trouble shooting, I can try and revert back to Titan and see if that fixes anything. I just wish the main Titan site was still up. The only kwet I have is the one that came with the JaS reseed. And the only reason I still have that is cause I did back it up before removing it. Okay, so Tubgirl is a distro version. I have to ask you this now, when you say "out of box" are you talking about just what the system display shows and system info says about your card? Or are you actually running a high end 3D game? Cause, just because a card registers as working, it doesn't mean it's exactly working. This is my problem. The card registers as completely functional, but in practice, it's far from that. At least, in WoW. I think I got Prey demo completely downloaded so I can test it through that. guice Posted February 23, 2007 Author Share Posted February 23, 2007 I figured out the problem. WoW has a problem with 6800GT's on the MacOS. It's a fully documented issue dating back to Beta. Since Macs officially surpassed the 6800 series, it never got fixed. So, I updated my vid card and it works. Not as well as I would expect on the PC side, but its very playable, hitting into the 20s within major city (like Shatt) and over 30 the rest of the time. On the PC, I was getting better than that on the 6800. So, not as good as the PC side, but definitely playable.
