Is there a Complete Guide to Installing OSX86?

I'm new here.. I've been searching for information for quite a while but I must confess that the Info seems to be varied and incomplete, broken URL Links, .. Bits and pieces here and there and most making assumptions your using a certain version of the kernel, know how to patch, speak the language so to speak, etc.

 

So, I wanted to ask if there was at least some sort of complete and comphrensive guide for newbies like many of us wanting to get this working..

 

Currently I have successfully installed 10.4.5. I would like to upgrade to the latest 10.4.8. My Sound and Wireless are not functioning in 10.4.5 and I was hoping that I might resolve the Sound and Wirless functionality using the latest kernel.

 

I"ve seen the stickies at the top of this forum referring to guides on patching kernels, etc but I think that refers to 10.4.8 systems only.

 

I have obtained a DVD called Jas 10.4.8 AMD Intell SSE2 SSE3. Half way through the install it simply says.. Installation Problem, Please try to Reinstall; despite it successfully passing the Installation Media Test. Then it reboots to a Screen that immediatley informs me there is a problem with my plist file .

 

Also, is there an IRC Channel? If so the name would be helpful.. I couldn't locate it on a search..

Check your hardware in the HCL in the OSX86 Wiki for sound and wireless.

 

For info on IRC, click on Chat above (under InsanelyMac logo).

 

And when you'll ask for further help, I suggest you give people details about your hardware (after you've checked if there are answers in the wiki or the forum for that hardware, of course).
