maelStröm
Hi. It's said that is not possible to install successfully OSX86 on 965-based mobos, especially on those intel dg965's... well, i unfortunately bought a dg965wh. Anyway, I've managed to install OSX86 on it, though i have some remaining problems... I've installed Jas 10.4.8 AMD/Intel SSE2/SSE3. It's been told that it freezes on the first reboot. It's true, due to its uncapability to deal with USB ports. I solved this plugging in my PS/2 mouse & keyboard. So i went on to the desktop after the first video demo. Since I couldn't bear not using my usb devices, i tried many things, such as installing Jas 10.4.8 Intel SSE3 only, with no success, since it hung over after the first reboot. Finally I succeeded in making my pc recognize usb ports doing a trick: i installed Jas 10.4.8 Intel/AMD SSE2/SSE3, and, once installed, rebooted my machine with the Jas 10.4.8 Intel SSE3 only in order to add its patches for USB 2.0 and Intel Combo Updates... And it worked out!!! My USBs are fully functional and 2.0 ready!!! Btw, my PATA and PCI buses seem not to work yet. As i bought for 24 € one of those USB adaptors for two IDE/ATAPI/SATA devices (+ 6 € for the delivery) such as this, I am able 2 plug in internally 2 PATA disks (in my case, an ATAPI DVDRAM and an UDMA IDE HD) by using a loop to an external USB port (I know it sounds odd) Although it works, I don't fancy the idea of using my USB forever to use my PATA disks, but what really sucks it's that my soundcard, NIC and PCI cards seem to be KO. Furthermore, the PC usually do very strange things while suspending, such as powering off and on, rebooting with the blank screen, etc, so I have to deactivate this option. That's why I'm thinking of returning my new PC (it's only a week since I bought it) and buying a Mac Mini or a 17''/20'' iMac. I hope this has be useful for you and any of you can help me a bit not to take this decission (is there any new brand motherboard compatible with OSX86?)). But I'm much too cheesed off!!! The features I choosed on the OSX86 DVDs are: From Jas 10.4.8 AMD/Intel SSE2/SSE3 (8.8.1 semthex/nebukadnezar) ------------------------------------------------------------------ 10.4.8.Intel.SSE2.SSE3 Sigmatel9220Audio.Support 10.4.4.Loginwindow.Intel.Only Natit.Nvidia.Support (got a Pointofview GeForce 7600 GS) Natit.Dual.Display (though it doesn't seem to work) From Jas 10.4.8 Intel SSE3 only ------------------------------ Jas.10.4.8.Combo.Update Intel.SSE3.semthex Intel.SSE3.mikfi Intel.ICH8.SATA.Support 10.4.8.USB.Fix (it rocked, though many of you say it kills USBs) CU Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42853-965-chipset-nightmare-partially-solved/ Share on other sites

docangle
I just upgraded my motherboard and processor(I had a P4 3.2 and the Intel 915GEV before), and I can't get Max OSX 10.4.8 going, the MB is an Intel DG965ryck and the processor is a E6400. when booting the JAS 10.4.8 DVD I use the -v option and I am getting a message 'waiting for root device' and will not continue. I have tried using the HD from my old system and the JAS 10.4.8 DVD and the prompts are the same.
