Wow :)

First the 80Core, now the Quantum CPU and we still have three days to come until it's friday :D

The Canadian startup D-Wave Systems just introduced the first Quantum CPU to the World in

Cali, USA. The CPU can handle 16 QBits, and they are already working on a 1000 Qbit version for

2008.

Now, what does that mean?

unlike normal Computers, Quantum bits can do more than just being 0 or 1. they can be both at

the same time. That means that you can use the calculations pararllel:

- Today a 16bit Computer can calculate just 1 of 64.000 possible values.

- A 16Qbit Quantum computer can calculate 64.000 posible values, too. But at the same time.

What else does that mean?

That means, every U.S. guy doing Canada-bashing, will hear a "Hey, shutup, we

made the Quantum CPU" from now on :hysterical:

um it's not for sale... so itsn't this just like (well, similar to) Intel's unveiling of their 80 core processor? In fact, wouldn't that be more significant?

Well lol :P It will be ready for the market in 2008. Even if one could buy it today,

you would not be able to program it. There are 5 known algorithms for a quantum

computer.

So the news is more the technology itself: If its true what they say, its like

inventing the car, or the telephone. That big.
