Has anyone tried to put OS X on a tablet?

I was thinking about this recently...would it be possible? I have a tablet but I don't want to screw up my 2200 dollar work of art .

I'm doubtful the touchscreen part of it will work. I guess you can't really break it, just use a boot up hdd app to fix your hdd if something goes wrong. Actually I suggest to resize your partition with Partition Magic to make some unallocated space, do the usual prep procedure and then install OS X, if some thing goes wrong, you can't not boot into windows to fix the problem (hopefully)

I know it's been done, in fact there is work being done on a driver that will allow you to use the touchscreen. You should probably give the model and specs of the system so that we could better tell you if and how well it would run.

I installed on a toshiba M400 (see my signature for the status of the installation)

However I think that it will be very difficult to have the touchscreen recognized...

in fact I read an article from wacom where they siad that it was very hard to incorporate the support fopr the USB connected external tablet... and that it was only possible with the direct collaboration of apple itself

This means that it not possible for them to provide driver for the "serial connect" external tablets... and the internal tablets are of the "serial" type...

if however someone can give me a link to the touchscreen project... i'll be happy to be a alfa tester of whathever will be available :-D

If this thread was properly done, in the right place, hell this thread shouldn't even exist!

There are several threads under the HARDWARE section of the forums to deal with this.

Tablet Pen support (Wacom) is working via a custom driver related to TabletMagic (Currently being updated to support TabletPC hardware) and a modification of the Serial Port Driver's plist.

Go to either the drivers thread by Khasoggi or my Fujitsu thread in HARDWARE and read up on it. It's not difficult, so why it took this long I don't know.
