xxDriveNxx
First off, much thanks to JaS and the other people that have made this all possible and put all of their time into this. I'm sure that not many people say it, but I mean it. It really means a lot to many of us. Alright, I got my hands on a copy of Jas's OSx86 10.4.8 integrated SS2 and SS3 Intel and Defiant diskutil patches. I have 2 SATA hard drives on my computer, one with Windows Vista installed, and the other for OSx86. I used the -v installation, and reformatted my 2nd SATA for OSx86 (Using the sub-program in the installer), and the installation worked fine. I did install a few extras (Printer Drivers, and program support), so that may be the problem for it's not booting. But I'm not sure. Anyways, I told my BIOS to boot the SATA with the OSx86 installed, and it began fine. Loaded the Darwin boot, and brought up the white screen with the grey apple in the center. It begins to load, but never gets past that screen. After about 45 seconds, the screen just goes blank until I reboot, and the process repeats itself. Suggestions? I can do a full reinstall if needed. I would just really like to get this working. Thanks in Advance! Edited February 6, 2007 by XDriveNx
ka911
Dear XDriveNx, can you please tell me how do you format your HD before you can instal osx?
xxDriveNxx
The function is built right into the installer. I'm not sure what it's exactly called. Check the Wiki for that.
ka911
What I mean is, do you try to format your HD with any software? or just partition the HD when you try to install win from the win boot CD?
srs2388
Hey ka911 You just use the disk utility with the OS X installer. That should help

kateikyoushi
On the top bar in tools you can find a utility to display and edit your partitions.

I own mini mac for over a year now, and I know how to install mac, so this is not my first time i have to work with installation. but with my HP PC I can't see the HD to install mac on and yes, I used utility to see my partition but all I can see is my DVD drive. there is no HD at all. poopclam
I am having the exact same issue, used the apple disk utility to format the drive, it showed up fine in the installer, the install itself was sucessful. When I restart my computer and boot to OSX it just goes to the apple logo for about 30 seconds, then goes to a blank screen. My monitor says there is no signal available. I am using a intel 915G mobo, P4 3.0 w/HT and a 200 gig SATA drive. For video I am using a x600 pro. Any help would be awesome, I really want to get this sucker going. fustyler
I'm experiencing the same problem as well. Install is fine, then it reboots, I see MAC logo, then a blue screen with a cursor and a spinning disc, and after a while the screen turns blank and nothing happens. Is it possible that this is the result of a bad dvd?
Fediks
I'm experiencing the same problem as well. Install is fine, then it reboots, I see MAC logo, then a blue screen with a cursor and a spinning disc, and after a while the screen turns blank and nothing happens. Is it possible that this is the result of a bad dvd? Same happened to me. What I figured out: it works fine with 10.4.6 but once I downloaded updates to 4.7 or 4.8 and installed them - white or blue screen or it restarts itself. My tip is - go down to version 10.4.6 and it should work. While installing choose "costomize" sign and chek proper boxes for your configuration especiially "Intel 10.4.6 (combo) update". GL By the way, my guess was also that some part of my comp doesn't correspond the latest versions of OS. Crucial should be videocard.
juunbug
Dont know if this helps, but I have read about people having similar issues with native installs without using an OS selector like Acronis. I know it doesnt seem to be part of the problem, but it has worked for a few others.
largo
I am experiencing the same 'blanking' troubles over here and I have been told that it is due my 'ATI Radeon 9600' being not supported. I've been told to "use the 10.4.7 kext and opengl framework" from a fellow guy from the IRC Channel. The guy also told me that booting using the '-x' should get me started without hardware acceleration, that nevertheless didn't work out. I will now try to follow his other advice. (Eventhough I have to admit that I am not sure yet what it exactly means...) I'll keep you updated in case I make any process...
largo
I fixed it and it had nothing to to with what I stated above. From what I can tell it is very critical when installing OSX to only select exacty those packages you need. After I heard somebody in the irc channel mentioning that installing certain patches had exactly the opposite effect for him, I thought I'd give it another try and to my surprise everything worked out pretty well. Again. When you install OSX, don't just install support for all the hardware you dont have, maybe even install just very few things and then start adding them afterwards if needed. This is at least what worked perfectly for me over here...
