Wolfsrudel
Hi, being cursed with an ide/pata dvd-drive connected to the only ide-port (jmicron363) on my board (asus p5b deluxe), it seems that i need an adaptor. if i understood correctly, i need to connect my dvd-drive via an adaptor to one of the boards sata-ports in order to install osx. do i need a special product? is anybody there, who has this thing running (i just like to know, if it really works with osx then)? thx for your help. best regards, chris

PacmanMCE
I've tried the JMB-Patch with my DVD... Nothing changed EDIT: Could it be that the JMB-Patch only works with the JaS 10.4.8??? If it is like that please send me a Link to a torrent-file (there are so much different JaS 10.4.8 ISOs) Edited February 4, 2007 by PacmanMCE
dvornik
I haven't tried the patch cause I don't have a demonoid account. However after the OS X installation on a P5B deluxe the Jmicron controller works, so I assume some patch is included. To install the OS X I went to a local computer store and bought the first USB adapter they had (~$20). It's marked "R-DriverIII". It works more or less OK, but I need to disconnect it once in a while - it doesn't seem to power down between reboots and the BIOS sometimes has trouble recognising the DVD drive attached to it. So it just gets stuck somewhere around SATA drives detection. Then I have to power down the computer and disconnect the thing temporarily. I don't know where to buy it but I think any other adapter like this could work. If you google for R-DriverIII you'll see a THG thread with suggestions for devices like this. I also tried a generic SATA adapter that I bought at the same time but it doesn't seem to work for this purpose. [edit] As far as "this thing running" - yes. I just got OS X to work last week and completed a quad boot today - it was a challenge though. Fully working accelerated dual monitor Nvidia video, onboard sound out, USB webcam with a microphone, one onboard network port. There's a guide for it that's pretty accurate http://forum.insanelymac.com/lofiversion/i...php/t32426.html Edited February 5, 2007 by dvornik
