My new Dell monitor is shipping via UPS tonight. :P DHL still has not responded about the missing monitor. I am glad Dell went ahead and shipped out a replacement.

DHL called today. They asked if I had any idea where the monitor was shipped. I replied, "you're the ones who shipped it (to the wrong address), why are you asking me?"

I bet someone at some other company got it and took it home with them. It doesn't matter. My replacement monitor is shipping UPS and it is scheduled to be here tommorow!

While I will probably buy another Dell product, I will never allow another company to use DHL. I am not impressed with DHL at all. They seem very disorganized in this area and don't seem to care. Dell on the other hand did do everything that could to take care of the problem, once Michael got involved. CP, Dell's Executive Care rep in Texas, went the extra mile to resolve this problem hopefully once and for all. I will find out once my monitor gets here tomorrow. This time I am confident it will be over. I haven't a problem with UPS. I love that big brown truck. :(

To those drivers that do that, I don't care if they are not making their quota, lieing about that {censored} is ridiculous. When I want my item, I WANT MY ITEM. Plain and simple. Hopefully Michael Dell kills the relationship with DHL.

But it's not good customer service though, because the fight had to be made into an external one before anything was done about it. Many companies believe that the customer is NEVER right anymore.

That's very true... However, I think people forget the intensity at which these companies run. Dell, for example, sells well over a million units a quarter. You've got to guess how many problems there will be, the intensity of those problems, and what resources are needed to take care of it. I think in general, it's really a {censored} shoot... especially because they've got other things to do at the same time in addition to providing $$$ to shareholders... :)

I don't know, I've always found companies with a smaller consumer base (I own one) providing customer service is fairly easy to handle... In 9 years, I can only think up one BIG screw-up in customer service and it was intentional... In general, it seems that most firms tend to do much better when customer service, socialability, and ease of the "process" for the consumer is favored. - at least it's worked for me.

BTW, good luck on getting your masters... what field?

I don't base my customer service reviews on intentions, I base it on results. If I order a product and it ends up in half way around the world by mistake, I blame the courier for 75% of it and 25% the seller for hiring such a poor delivery service.

If I return a product and it takes ages to get a refund or I have to call frequently and stay on top of the situation to get a result, I blame the seller 100% who accepted give a refund but did not carry enough the resources to handle the return in the timely fashion. Any company who has to use India for Customer Care really needs to rethink its Customer Service plans for the future because I don't think customers are going to tolerate poor customer service any longer. I'm not.

You don't have to outrun the bear, just the fellow you're hunting with...

btw, I meant I intentionally (as the owner) caused the big time screw-up to end business relations with a particular customer... The result was intentional and specific to that incident.

DHL found the package today and left it on my front door step. It's a good thing for DHL that I am on honest customer, because I still never signed for it. It's shipping back to Dell tonight via UPS. Dell did not want it to come back using DHL.

My new monitor is coming via UPS. If you are wondering why I did not keep the DHL monitor and send back the UPS one, the one from UPS is a special monitor. Thanks MD!
