xtraa
One of the developers of the Windows API clone ReactOS, Alex Iunescu, said he found a way to trick the 64bit digital rights management system of Windows Vista. because of the DMCA, he is not going into too much detalis in his blog. Microsofts DRM has a spoof-secure place in the PE (Protected environment) system, called Protected media Path, to keep digital HighDef content from being copied. One of the nice things that PMP does for you is for example Bus-encryption. Ionescu claims that he wrote a demo, that can load own code into the Kernel. That way, Audio and Video apps in Vista still think everything is working like it should, although the system has been already compromised. While he was at it, he also hacked the PatchGuard of Vista. PatchGuard was made to ensure that only signed drivers can be loaded. See his posting on that topic here. Source is available in german. A Nonny Moose
Again, no OS is 100% secure, but no OS should relax their efforts to make it more secure.
