I have a MBP C2D and i have XP already installed. i am wondering since vista comes out tomorrow or today, not sure, should i upgrade to the new OS or should i stay with the not so trusty dusty XP. will everything that works in XP work in Vista? is vista stable as it is now?

Microsoft would not release an unstable OS, and eventually everyone will upgrade to Vista so why not do it now. I myself plan on building a $1,200 just for Vista (and thats not including my 24 in monitor). and see as how you are on a MBP, it would run smoothly on that machine.

I heard most will work, though I have also heard Audition goes dog slow in Vista for some reason, Paul Thurrott has a great Software on Vista overview http://winsupersite.com/reviews/winvista_06.asp

I was going to say that "upgrade" is probably not the right term where Vista is concerned, but I don't want to kick up another slanging match about how good/bad it is.

I've been running versions of Vista (legally) for months, and the truth is, I like the interface and some of the features. I dislike the extra layers of difficulty which stop you doing things. I still have Vista on two machines because, like it or not, I'm going to have to use it eventually - but I'm using XP for all the real work and probably will until key applications like Photoshop won't run on it any more.

As for software working on Vista, well, mostly it seems to. I had a few problems where programs tried to create files in newly protected areas (like Program Files) and the OS won't let them do that at runtime. The kludge I used was to create Junctions and Symlinks to non-protected areas so the programs could write out their stuff.

So the solution for me is to keep Vista as a plaything and slowly migrate - XP looks clumsy in comparison - but if I had to choose one or the other today, I'd stick with XP.

vista will b slower in most cases than xp..

so i'd say if u want the looks go the vista way

else stay put
