I've done all my research and read alot about it, but I have not seen any kind of this topic I'm doing. I've noticed that there are different ways of booting 10.4.8 (dvd) into the system. This is more of a informational question NOT troubleshooting. I wanted to find out what did YOU 'do, 'download, and/or pretty much to 'prepare before the fight begins after you finished downloading 10.4.8 into your system then burning it to a DVD! I'm now downloading 10.4.8 (i have 3days +hrs to finish).

My question is, what softwares, downloads, and i believe there's this bootable CD that contains tools, STEPS, requirements and .etc. that I need to have before I begin the whole process.

As you can see I'm a noob and I want to learn everything about this forum and hopefully learn alot from you experts!!! I'm sure you all been to my position when you are so eager to know everything, your help will be gladly appreciated and thank you in advance for the replies(hopefully). Again, thank you.

theres no software you need to download, all you have to do is burn your ISO file to a blank DVD and get started installing Mac to your PC right away, after your download finish. if your using Windows, burn the ISO file in Nero Burning ROM software. either version 6 or 7 much better. the iso file contains all utilities you will need for installation.

hey soundless, thanks for the response.

like what jorrell mentioned. NERO i have it. 6.6.0.15 version. i belive after i download 10.4.8 i burn it to dvd. is there a specific type i need? DVD-R/DVD+R/RECORDABLE/REWRITABLE?

AFter i burn it, what's next?

sorry i'm so new at this, this is too technical for me, but i would really like to learn it, please be patient.

thanks...

You need to boot to the dvd rather then your hdd. If you go into the BIOS, you should find a setting called "Boot order" or something like that, and it will usually show you whether the first boot device is IDE, or floppy, or dvd. You want your first device to be CD/DVD so you can boot from the CD. On some computers, you can press a key to select boot device, i.e. on my dell laptop f12 lets me pick a boot device, but that may not work for you.

BTW, to burn the ISO file you need to actually open up "Nero Burning ROM", and cancel the select type of disc to burn, then go "file - open" and browse to the ISO file and select it and click burn.

If you try to select "ISO DVD" and then drag and drop the ISO file over, it will just burn the ISO file to a dvd, and you won't be able to boot from it, you need to open the ISO file and let it burn the contents of that file to the DVD.

Before you jump in to far you might what to read up on how to do a few of the basic things first. Learn how to burn an ISO file and booting from cd. Learn what you can about your hardware, is it all going to work with OSX? These are thing you need to know before you try to install.
