Did somebody try to do it and what was his result? Is it legal to install legal copy of MacOS X Server on non Mac-hardware. There are several threads. 2nd Are you aware that it is illegal to run ANY OS X on Non-Apple hardware? 3rd OS X Server is just a piece of software that is installed on top of standard OS X. Moop Posted February 28, 2007 Share Posted February 28, 2007 Actually in their license, they state that in addition to needing a valid license for Mac OS X, you need to be running it on Apple-branded hardware only. Though I'm sure someone is gonna wise up and take 'em to court for putting a monopoly on their operating system. The Shaun Posted February 28, 2007 Share Posted February 28, 2007 Are you kidding me? Apple can do whatever they want with their operating system. THEY own it. THEY created it for THEIR hardware. If they want it to only run on Apple-branded hardware, that's perfectly okay. How are they even creating a monopoly? Do you know the definition of that word? It would be a monopoly if Apple forced other hardware manufacturers to run only their OS and nothing else (remember the Microsoft anti-trust lawsuits?). It doesn't work the other way around, sorry.
